Custom made hearing protection

Wax gone with Gwen now offers custom made ear protection. Earplugs are made, using the shape of your own ear, for a secure and comfortable fit. An impression of your ear is taken and then the earplugs are created. Available in a choice of colours.

Swim plugs

Ideal for swimmers and those with grommets or prone to ear infections after water ingress.

Great for surfers and cold-water swimmers to avoid surfers ear (exostosis) caused by repeated exposure of the ears to cold water. This is where the bone of the ear canal starts to grow abnormally, forming bony growths called exostosis. These exostoses grow slowly over time, causing the ear canal to become narrower (see image below). 

With continued exposure to cold wind and water, exostosis will get worse. If the swellings narrow your ear canal too much, wax and water can get trapped in the ear, which can cause infection and hearing loss.

Noise Plugs

Your ears have three main parts: the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. Sounds travel through the outer ear and vibrate parts of the middle ear. These vibrations then reach the inner ear, where tiny hair cells send signals to the brain.

Loud noise can damage these small hair cells permanently. Once damaged, they cannot grow back. Listening to very loud music, using noisy machines, or being around other loud sounds for too long can lead to hearing loss.
